About the Lhasa Apso
Bred in the monasteries and palaces of Tibet as an indoor sentinel that barked to warn of intruders. Lhasa Apsos were considered sacred and were often given as gifts by the Dalai Lama. Its floor-length coat protected it from the harsh Himalayan climate. Independent and wary of strangers, it is a good watchdog. Long-lived, with many reaching their mid-teens.
