Keeshond

About the Keeshond

A Dutch barge dog that guarded river boats and farms. It became the symbol of the Dutch Patriot faction in the eighteenth century, named after its leader Cornelis de Gyselaer, nicknamed Kees. Distinctive spectacle markings around its eyes give it an expressive face. Its plush gray and black coat sheds heavily. Friendly and alert, it is a good watchdog but not a guard dog.
