About the Flat-Coated Retriever
Once the most popular retriever in Britain, favored by gamekeepers in the late 1800s before the Labrador and Golden overtook it. Called the Peter Pan of dogs because it stays playful and puppyish well into old age. Its glossy, flat-lying coat is black or liver. Sadly, the breed has a high rate of cancer, which shortens its average lifespan. Friendly with everyone.
