West Highland White Terrier

About the West Highland White Terrier

Developed in the Scottish Highlands to hunt foxes, badgers, and rats among rocky cairns. Tradition credits Colonel Edward Malcolm of Poltalloch with favoring white dogs after one of his reddish terriers was mistaken for a fox and shot. The Westie has a harsh double coat and a carrot-shaped tail. Long familiar as the face of Cesar dog food and Black and White whisky.
