About the Tibetan Mastiff
An ancient guardian of Himalayan nomads, villages, and monasteries, bred to protect livestock and property from wolves, leopards, and intruders. Its thick mane gives it a lionlike look. Often more active at night, when it patrols and barks. Strong-willed and aloof with strangers. During a boom in China in the 2010s, some Tibetan Mastiffs reportedly sold for record-breaking prices.
