About the Shetland Sheepdog
A small herding dog from the Shetland Islands of Scotland, where it herded sheep, ponies, and poultry and kept birds away from crops. It looks like a miniature Rough Collie but was developed separately using smaller dogs. Shelties are among the most successful breeds in obedience and agility competitions. Sensitive and eager to please, they can be vocal barkers.
