About the Corgi (Pembroke)
The favorite breed of Queen Elizabeth II, who owned over 30 during her reign. Despite short legs, they are excellent herders — they nip at cattle heels while avoiding kicks. The Pembroke is the more popular of two Corgi breeds (the other being the Cardigan). Their name means dwarf dog in Welsh. Surprisingly fast and athletic. Often called the dog with the big dog bark.
