About the Scottish Deerhound
A tall, rough-coated sighthound bred to hunt red deer in the Scottish Highlands. Once so prized that only nobles could own one, it is called the Royal Dog of Scotland. Sir Walter Scott was devoted to his Deerhound Maida. Gentle and quiet indoors, it needs room to run. It resembles a larger, rough-coated Greyhound. Slow to mature and generally friendly with everyone.
