About the Basset Hound
Their name comes from the French bas (low). Second only to Bloodhounds in scent-tracking ability. Their long ears help sweep scent toward their nose. The wrinkles on their face trap scent particles. Elvis sang Hound Dog to a Basset on the Steve Allen Show in 1956. The logo for Hush Puppies shoes is a Basset Hound. Notoriously stubborn — they will follow a scent anywhere.
