About the Collie (Rough)
A herding dog from the Scottish Highlands made fashionable when Queen Victoria kept Collies at Balmoral. Became world famous through Lassie, the heroic dog of novels, films, and television, first played by a male Rough Collie named Pal in 1943. Its luxurious double coat and long, refined head are hallmarks. Gentle, intelligent, and loyal, it is an excellent family dog.
