Rhodesian Ridgeback

About the Rhodesian Ridgeback

Developed in southern Africa by European settlers who crossed their dogs with the ridged hunting dogs of the Khoikhoi people. Its signature is a ridge of hair along the back that grows in the opposite direction to the rest of the coat. Nicknamed the African Lion Hound because packs were used to track lions and hold them at bay for hunters. Strong-willed but devoted.
