About the Puli
A Hungarian sheepdog famous for its dense corded coat, which looks like dreadlocks and can reach the ground in older dogs. Brought to Hungary by the Magyars over a thousand years ago, it herded sheep alongside the larger Komondor, which guarded them. Agile and bouncy, it can turn quickly to control the flock. The cords take years to form and need regular care.
