Papillon

About the Papillon

Named for its large, fringed ears that resemble the wings of a butterfly, papillon in French. A drop-eared variety called the Phalene, meaning moth, also exists. Toy spaniels of this type appear in Renaissance paintings by artists such as Titian. Despite its delicate look it is athletic, highly intelligent, and excels at agility. Its silky single coat needs little grooming.
