About the Neapolitan Mastiff
A massive guardian descended from the molossers of ancient Rome, with heavy folds of loose skin and a pendulous dewlap. The breed was revived in the 1940s by Italian enthusiasts, including the writer Piero Scanziani. Calm and watchful, it is a devoted protector of its family. Neapolitan Mastiffs played Fang, Hagrids dog, in the Harry Potter films. Drools heavily.
