About the Japanese Chin
A companion of Japanese nobility for centuries, likely descended from Chinese toy dogs. Often described as catlike: it washes its face with its paws, likes high perches, and is quiet and fastidious. Chins are known for the Chin spin, twirling in circles when excited, and for their large, wide-set eyes. Commodore Matthew Perry brought Chins back from Japan in the 1850s.
