About the Cane Corso
An Italian mastiff descended from Roman war dogs, later used to guard farms, drive cattle, and hunt wild boar. Its name is often translated as bodyguard dog. The breed was nearly extinct by the mid-twentieth century before enthusiasts revived it in the 1970s and 1980s. Powerful and protective, it needs early socialization and an experienced owner.
