About the Bedlington Terrier
Named after the mining town of Bedlington in Northumberland, where miners used it to hunt rats and rabbits. Its curly, woolly coat and arched back give it the look of a small lamb, but it can run at great speed. Gentle at home but a fierce competitor when roused. The breed is prone to an inherited liver disorder called copper toxicosis, which breeders now test for.
