Basenji

About the Basenji

An ancient hunting dog from Central Africa, where it was used to flush game into nets. Called the barkless dog because its unusually shaped larynx produces a yodel-like sound instead of a bark. Basenjis groom themselves like cats and have a tightly curled tail. Females usually come into season only once a year, like wolves. Curious and mischievous, it needs secure fencing.
