About the Australian Cattle Dog
Developed in nineteenth-century Australia by crossing herding dogs with dingoes to drive cattle over long distances in harsh conditions. Known as the Blue Heeler or Red Heeler for its speckled coat and its habit of nipping cattle heels. An Australian Cattle Dog named Bluey, who died in 1939, is recognized by Guinness as the oldest dog ever verified, at 29 years and 5 months. Tireless and very smart.
