About the Akita
A national monument in Japan where they are considered symbols of good health. Hachiko, the most famous Akita, waited at Shibuya Station for his deceased owner every day for 9 years. A statue of Hachiko is one of Tokyo most popular meeting spots. Helen Keller brought the first Akita to the US in 1937. Originally used for hunting bears and guarding royalty.
